Bailey Michael Rushing, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, co-worker, and friend, passed away on December 13, 2024, at the age of 28. Born on February 20, 1996, Bailey was the cherished son of Mendy Hunt and Terry Rushing.
As the middle brother of two sisters, Bailey was a ribbon that kept his siblings together. He was a protector to his sisters, always there when they needed him to defend or support them and an amazing uncle. Bailey adored kids and would spend hours playing with his nieces. He was so excited to meet his first nephew Tate this February. Regardless, his love and loyalty for his sisters, (Jessica and Kayla) and his adoration for his nieces, (Alli, Livi, and Kennedy), and his nephew (Tate), was undeniable and his presence in their life will be deeply missed.
Behind that quiet nature and mischievous smile was Bailey's brilliant mind, especially when it came to fixing things. Whether it was a burnt electric motor winding, mechanical issue or something he needed to know when something happened or a date when it happened. He would always be the first to research it. Bailey could figure out anything, a testament to his resourcefulness and mechanical expertise. Bailey's curiosity knew no bounds. Finding deals on any and everything to make a profit. Often times Bailey was on his phone learning while simultaneously letting the music beat through his soul via earbuds. When he wanted to learn something he would spend hours getting all of the information. He also would always want it done right.
Music was a huge part of his life. Whether at work, or at home getting ready for bed he always had an earpiece in listening to his favorite songs. From 90s country to rap he knew it all. Not only the lyrics but entire albums. One of the fondest memories was doing karaoke with his two sisters.
Bailey was a very giving and selfless individual. He would randomly get his nieces drinks or snacks. One day he sent Kayla $40 and when she called he playfully denied it until finally ending the conversation with "I'm just making sure my nephew is eating good". He would always chase his nieces, pick them up and get on the floor and play with them. He would also pick on and tickle them until they would belly laugh.
Bailey would often meet strangers and just start up conversations. There wasn't anyone he wasn't able to talk to. He would always welcome them to the conversation and enjoyed getting to meet all different types of people. His kind soul with be extremely missed.
His ability to absorb knowledge was impressive, and he enjoyed an occasional debate, but his real gift was in sharing ideas, breaking down complex ideas and making them understandable and accessible to others. He could debate a topic someone disagreed with and immediately after become friends again.
He had a passion for kids that was undeniable. Bailey once grew his hair out and donated it to Locks of Love for children with cancer. We will be setting up a donation for Locks of Love if you feel compelled to donate under Bailey's name.
Bailey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and many fond memories. He will be remembered for his adventurous soul, his clever sense of humor, his gentle child-like spirit, and his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. Bailey is survived by his parent's, Terry Rushing and Mendy Hunt; his sisters, Jessica Barnes and Kayla Rushing; his nieces Alli, Livi, and Kennedy; his nephew Tate; and numerous extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.
A reception celebrating Bailey's life will be held at The Cozine Life Events Center on Saturday, December 21, from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Burial will follow at Andover Cemetery.
May Bailey's love and passion for children well-being be his legacy.
