Audrey Hughes

Hughes, Audrey “Dee” June (Shapley), went home June 10, 2016 in Wichita. Audrey was born April 20, 1922 near Sterling, Kansas to O.F. and Ethyl F. (Bain) Shapley. She was a 1940 graduate of Wichita North High. Audrey retired from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department in 1989. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Her daughters, on behalf of their Mother’s wishes, request the wearing of bright Easter colors to grace the chapel at her memorial service Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm. A visitation with the family present will be held from 6-8 pm, Thursday, June 16, 2016. Both will be held at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS. Survivors are daughter, Ethyl A. Merrick, Barbara J. Kissinger, Carol J. Wagner and Diana M. Hopkins, as well as 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Audrey was preceded by her parents; sisters, Edna R. Shapley, Mildred L. (Johnson) Ramey, Geraldine F. (Shapley) Stephens; brothers, Howard E. Johnson, Harvey C. Shapley and grandson Vaughn B.
