Benedick, Annie Elizabeth “Bettie”, 94, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 in Wichita, KS. Bettie was born December 14, 1922 the fifth of seven children in Ogden, Utah to Sylvanus James and Sarah Jane Bevan. She and her husband, Glenn were married in 1942 in Ogden and, after living in various places, they located in Wichita in 1947. Their nearly 60 years of marriage, was blessed with six children, 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; and five siblings. She is survived by her six children, Jane (Bob) Knight, of Wichita, Ron (Toni) Benedick, of Lawrence, Ann (Jim) Osborne, of Wichita, Susie (Rod) Olsen, of Manhattan, Ken (Joyce) Benedick, of Beloit, Robert (Mimi) Benedick, of Manhattan; brother, G. Robert Bevan, of Ogden, Utah. She was president of Wichita Women’s Symphony Association. In 1979 Bettie presented the concept for Wichita’s First Symphony Showhouse and served as its co-chair for that event. She served on the board of trustees for the American Cancer Society for 12 years. Bettie was president of PTA at McLean Elementary, Marshall Jr. High and North High. She was also president of Twentieth Century Club as well as First United Methodist Women. She was named one of Wichita’s 10 Best Dressed Women in 1963. Bettie’s life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21 at First United Methodist Church which was designed by her late husband, Glenn.
