Alice Berube Dixon, 78, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025. Visitation will be from 2-4pm, Sunday, March 16, at the Cozine Life Events Center. Funeral service celebrating Alice’s life will be at 11:00am, Monday, March 17 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Private family burial will take place at Jamesburg Park Cemetery in Wichita.
Alice was born October 8, 1946 to her parents, Amedee and Anne Berube in Washington, D.C. She attended St. Patrick’s High School in Washington, D.C. and later Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
Alice met the love of her life, Richard Dixon, when Rick needed a fourth person for his bowling team in Washington, D.C. They were married for more than 62 years. They moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1972 for Rick to help his grandfather grow the family business, P.B. Hoidale Co., Inc.
Alice dedicated her life to raising her three children, and her joy continued to grow with the birth of each of her six grandchildren. She enjoyed family vacations to Estes Park, Colorado; Hilton Head, South Carolina; and overseas. She spent many trips visiting the French Canadian and northern Maine countryside to learn more about her genealogy. Alice was able to trace her roots back through church and public records to the 1600s in the province of Quebec. She later added that information to online genealogy databases for others to reference.
She enjoyed embroidering, reading, and baking. One of the ways she expressed her love was sending quilts to her friends and family when they needed comfort.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Amedee and Anne Berube; and sister, Marie Bechtel. She is survived by husband of 62 years, Richard Dixon; son, Steve (Julie) Dixon; daughters, Jennifer (Bob) O’Neil, and Christine Dixon Thiesing (Matthew Thiesing); siblings, Butch (Karen) Berube, Lucille (Tom) Caffrey, Irene (David) LeCourt, Raymond (Becky) Berube; brother-in-law, Doug Bechtel; and grandchildren, Robert O’Neil IV, Emily O’Neil, Elizabeth Dixon, Benjamin Dixon, James William Thiesing, and Maren Thiesing.
