Salida taxes too high

Dear Ed,
Just a short note to inform you that my wife and I stopped at the McDonald’s on Highway 50 in Salida on a December Saturday, and ordered “Big Breakfasts,” a menu item.
I usually don’t check my receipt but on this occasion I did, and I smarted when I saw that I paid a 52ยข tax for eating in.
The city councilors deserve to be commended for their creativity, but I won’t be eating there again.
